Today, September 22, 2021, marks the beginning of my 7th post-sabbatical return. It’s an auspicious day for me (and I hope for you too).

On the first day of fall 2015, I embarked on “My Year of No” Sabbatical. My intention was to unhook from my ‘busyness’ habits and my need to accomplish to feel worthy.

Little did I know that it would take a full SIX YEARS to realign: revealing what was hidden, releasing what no longer served me, and consistently turning towards what’s uncomfortable, to find what I was seeking. Although I didn’t know it then, what I was seeking, and what I found, is inner stillness.

Six years ago, I was hoping a “gift” would emerge. Something I was better at than anyone else (the kind of thing you seek when feeling “not enough”). I tell you what, a gift did emerge. There is something I AM better at than anyone else – being ME!

I used to crave comfort and safety. But that’s not it. The zone of comfort is an illusion created by staying over-busy (distracted) – stillness is sustainable. Inner stillness allows you to hold space for others when their worlds are crashing down without a cost to your well-being. Inner stillness is where joy emerges from. Inner stillness is your calm center – always available, always there.

When you no longer need outside sources; activities, people, circumstances to feed your soul… problem-solving, creativity, leadership, dreams, passion, connection, and contribution to what matters most to you, unfolds with ease.

On the first day of fall 2015, I wrote a manifesto (posted below). It wasn’t about materialistic things I desired to attract; the focus was on how I wanted to feel.

HOW DO YOU WANT TO FEEL? What are you tolerating? What are you resisting? What emotional encumbrances would you like to heal? What would you like to call in?

WILL YOU CELEBRATE WITH ME? Carve out time and write your own manifesto. I have since written two more manifestos. My last was written Summer Solstice 2020 – every intention written has come true!
Never doubt that magic is real!

My 365 Manifesto
Day 1: September 23rd, 2015
To be present, open, and clear. To let my intuition guide me and let my emotions lead me. To feel a richness and depth in every moment that has previously been glossed over with the whirlwind of life. My intention is to find pearls of wisdom within, and polish those pearls and bring them to the world. I will create and grow by simply being me – being open, being vulnerable, and being willing to feel the parts of me that also need polishing. No judgment, just awareness of what is. My purpose in being is to love myself, respect myself, trust myself, believe in myself – make no excuses. To not shrink from the world, but to step up and embrace every living, breathing, pulsating, juicy ounce of what being human is.  I am here to lead, love, and inspire. And the best part – this all comes easily and effortlessly because I know where my magic lays – it’s my truth shared. When I share my truth and be true to myself, magic happens.

September 22, 2021: Indeed, it has!
